Field & Enforcement Services

Each day, six animal control officers patrol the county, serving our more than 186,000 residents. Officers assist the public from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, with emergency services provided 24 hours a day, seven days a week by an on-call officer.

Animal Control field officers respond to the following routine calls for service:

• Area patrols
• Impound of stray and/or unrestrained dogs and cats
• Vicious animal complaints
• Cruelty investigations
• Animal bites
• Animal noise complaints
• Abandoned animal complaints
• Injured animal rescues
• Pick up of dead companion animals on county roads
• Loose livestock on roadways
• Public Safety Departments’ requests for assistance

After hour, weekend and holiday animal control services are limited to emergencies only. Emergency calls for service include:

• Injured companion animals with no one to come to their aid
• Aggressive animal(s) running at large
• Animals that have bitten a human.
