Henry County is accepting applications for the position of Certified Police Officer in the Henry County Police Department. This position enforces laws related to the protection of life and property, directs and controls traffic, prevents crime or disturbance of peace, and arrests violators. Listed are some of the essential duties and responsibilities: They shall enforce all statutes, laws, ordinances, regulations and procedures of Department; maintains law and order, protects life and property and performing related assignments. Applicant shall become familiar with State Traffic Codes, Criminal Procedure Codes & Ordinances. Patrols assigned area on foot, by motorcycle, in patrol car, to enforce laws, prevent and discover crimes, investigate crimes, maintain order, and answer calls and complaints. Answers radio-dispatched or citizens’ request for police services at the scene of accidents, domestic disputes, law violations, and peace disturbances. Qualifications are valid Georgia driver’s licenses; must submit a three (3) year Motor Vehicle Report at time of interview; completion of police training and education as required by Georgia Law; Good moral character; Honorable discharge ONLY for persons with military service; No felony or domestic violence convictions and must be physically fit and able to perform the duties of police officer.

Maintenance Specialist Tech l

Henry County is accepting applications for the Maintenance Specialist Tech l position in the Department of Parks & Recreation. This position is responsible for maintaining the grounds and facilities at the counties various parks, in addition to aiding park users by assisting in setting up facilities to accommodate special functions. The duties associated with this position typically involves performing ground maintenance work that includes trimming and cutting trees, brush etc.; planting and maintaining trees, shrubs and flowers; collecting trash and ensuring that grounds are clear of debris and free of safety hazards; perform various maintenance/repair duties that includes repairing and installing fences, steps and retaining walls; installing and repairing equipment such as scoreboards, water fountains, lights, etc.; operates machinery involved in hauling equipment and materials; maintaining drainage and irrigation systems; operating equipment involved in trimming and pruning; performs related duties as required.

Educational requirements include High School diploma or GED equivalent. Experience in grounds care, landscaping and/or facility maintenance is required along with possession of a valid Georgia driver’s license. Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. The knowledge and skills required of this position includes: Knowledge of grounds/facility maintenance practices and procedures; knowledge of department/division rules and procedures; knowledge of various tools, materials and equipment used to perform landscaping, grounds care and preventative maintenance; knowledge of standard safety practices and procedures; skill in the operation of equipment used in grounds maintenance, construction, landscaping, janitorial duties or any other standard tools of the trade.

Administrative Assistant I (Receptionist)

The position is responsible for being the first point of contact for the County Administrative Building. The incumbent will operate telephones to answer, screen or forward callers in providing information, taking messages or scheduling appointments. The duties associated with this position typically involves: Answering inquiries and provides information to the general public, employees, visitors and other interested parties; convey accurate information as requested in person, by email or via telephone; evaluate customers’ needs and directs them to appropriate office or person; watches security monitors and alerts appropriate individuals of suspicious persons or occurrences; listens accordingly in order to solve problems and issues; files and maintains a variety of records; performs related duties as required.   

Qualifications include graduation from High school plus any additional qualifications or experience which provide the following: One year experience working with and providing information directly to the public, with the ability to listen and understand inquiries and answer questions. Ability to speak clearly and effectively; skill in determining and resolving customer needs; ability to record and deliver information that entails explaining procedures in addition to following verbal and written instructions.
