Henry County is accepting applications for the position of Certified Police Officer in the Henry County Police Department. This position enforces laws related to the protection of life and property, directs and controls traffic, prevents crime or disturbance of peace, and arrests violators. Listed are some of the essential duties and responsibilities: They shall enforce all statutes, laws, ordinances, regulations and procedures of Department; maintains law and order, protects life and property and performing related assignments. Applicant shall become familiar with State Traffic Codes, Criminal Procedure Codes & Ordinances. Patrols assigned area on foot, by motorcycle, in patrol car, to enforce laws, prevent and discover crimes, investigate crimes, maintain order, and answer calls and complaints. Answers radio-dispatched or citizens’ request for police services at the scene of accidents, domestic disputes, law violations, and peace disturbances. Qualifications are valid Georgia driver’s licenses; must submit a three (3) year Motor Vehicle Report at time of interview; completion of police training and education as required by Georgia Law; Good moral character; Honorable discharge ONLY for persons with military service; No felony or domestic violence convictions and must be physically fit and able to perform the duties of police officer.

Law Clerk

Judge’s Law Clerk in the State Court of Henry County.

Required Skills and Abilities:  Applicants must be a member of the State Bar of Georgia or eligible to take the bar examination; knowledge of the practices and procedures of state court; a high level of analytical ability to find solutions to unusual and difficult legal problems and questions; excellent online legal research and legal writing skills; effective communication skills; ability to work independently and within strict deadlines; professional and mature demeanor; proficient computer skills including Word and Excel.

General Nature of Work: Law Clerk will assist the state court judge; anticipate legal issues and evidentiary and procedural problems in cases coming to trial; prepare judge’s orders on civil and criminal motions; manage judge’s civil docket; test legal theories in motions, briefs, memoranda of law, and petitions submitted to the judge.  

Salary: $50,445.03 annually; $48,042.89 before admission to the Georgia Bar

Substance Abuse Treatment Counselor

This position is a grant funded position, renewable annually. The incumbent will perform as Henry County Adult Felony Drug Court Substance Abuse Treatment Counselor. This position is responsible for assessing and providing treatment to individuals with substance abuse difficulties, including abuse of alcohol or other drugs. The positions role is to help participants of the Henry County Drug Court Program by equipping them with the skills or mechanics to deal with their addiction through individual and/or group counseling sessions. The duties associated with this position typically involve conducting assessments on participants to determine DSM diagnosis/diagnostic impressions, severity of substance abuse, treatment intensity, placement of services and ancillary needs; identifying and evaluating  participants strengths, weaknesses, problems, and needs for the development of a treatment plan; conduct group, individual and family supportive counseling sessions utilizing multisystem therapies; provide crisis intervention in response to alcohol and/or other drug abuse needs during acute emotional and/or physical distress; provide education to participants and families on substance abuse issues; arrange for provision of services from community resources based on participant treatment plans; assist in the collection of urine samples and chain of custody for drug testing; maintain appropriate documentation necessary for statistical reports, evaluations, legal documents etc.; provides status reports for the  presiding judge and actively participates in Status Reviews; attends court hearings and makes recommendations; performs other related work as required.

Educational Requirements include Bachelor’s Degree in a behavioral science such as Psychology or Substance Abuse Counseling one (1) year of experience providing behavioral health services to participants with substance abuse and/or substance dependency diagnosis; Certification Addiction Counselor II (CAC II) is required; possession of a valid Georgia driver’s license; ability to work with flexibility to accommodate day, evening and weekend hours; knowledge of principles, procedures, and methods for rehabilitation of mental and physical dysfunction; must acquire a working knowledge of the Connexis required data tools; ability to apply statutory requirements and to understand and comply with State and Federal confidentiality laws concerning medical and substance abuse treatment.

Meals-On-Wheels Aide P/T 20 hrs.

The purpose of this position is to ensure that all Meals-on-Wheels meals are properly packaged, sorted, delivered, and served. All food must be handled properly, and all related serving areas, utensils, and equipment must be properly cleaned and maintained in accordance with acceptable health standards. Some of the duties typically involve counting, sorting, and packing meals into a Meals-on-Wheels cooler for each daily delivery route; deliver Meals-on-Wheels door-to-door when no volunteer is available to deliver; organize, clean, and maintain the food storage areas as directed; assist with serving of meals when necessary; performs related duties as required.

Educational requirements include graduation from High School or G.E.D. equivalent. Experience in food service and general experience dealing with the senior population is preferred but not required. Any equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable. Knowledge required by this position includes: knowledge of general Department policies and procedures regarding operation of a senior center; knowledge of Meals-on-Wheels guidelines and procedures; knowledge of Health Department food handling procedures; ability to properly operate semi-commercial kitchen equipment. Possession of a valid Georgia driver’s license is also required.
Salary: $10.64 per hour, 20 hours per week. (No Benefits)

Community Service Coordinator

This position is responsible for coordinating community service projects for juvenile offenders in partial completion of a court order. Duties include directly supervising juvenile offenders who perform community service during week and weekend hours; assign juveniles to various organizations throughout Henry County; maintain accurate records for weekly and monthly reporting; foster relationships with non-profit organizations in the community; prepare necessary documents on juveniles who violate their probationary agreements; prepare written summaries for court hearings as needed; perform general maintenance and landscaping duties, while also training juvenile offenders in proper use of equipment; maintain statistical and financial data on completed projects and submit monthly task sheets to the Director; performs related duties as required.

Educational requirements include High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. Knowledge and skills required to effectively carry out the duties of this position include: knowledge of county policies and procedures; appropriate skills in operating a vehicle and landscaping equipment such as mowers and weed eaters; ability to maintain landscaping equipment; ability to demonstrate appropriate record keeping skills; demonstrate discretion and the ability to apply independent judgment within established guidelines; ability to organize and set priorities and follow up assignments with minimum supervision. Incumbent must possess a valid Georgia driver’s license and have experience driving a multi-passenger vehicle with a trailer in tow.

Court Records Clerk
