Henry County is accepting applications for the position of Certified Police Officer in the Henry County Police Department. This position enforces laws related to the protection of life and property, directs and controls traffic, prevents crime or disturbance of peace, and arrests violators. Listed are some of the essential duties and responsibilities: They shall enforce all statutes, laws, ordinances, regulations and procedures of Department; maintains law and order, protects life and property and performing related assignments. Applicant shall become familiar with State Traffic Codes, Criminal Procedure Codes & Ordinances. Patrols assigned area on foot, by motorcycle, in patrol car, to enforce laws, prevent and discover crimes, investigate crimes, maintain order, and answer calls and complaints. Answers radio-dispatched or citizens’ request for police services at the scene of accidents, domestic disputes, law violations, and peace disturbances. Qualifications are valid Georgia driver’s licenses; must submit a three (3) year Motor Vehicle Report at time of interview; completion of police training and education as required by Georgia Law; Good moral character; Honorable discharge ONLY for persons with military service; No felony or domestic violence convictions and must be physically fit and able to perform the duties of police officer.

Attorney I

 This position is responsible for representing defendants who qualify and who have been criminally charged with a felony offense in the Flint Circuit, Judicial District in Georgia.  Essential duties include: Interviewing clients; contacts arresting officer to discuss his/her arrest, findings and what evidence against the client;  conducts a preliminary hearing to determine further information from police officer and/or witnesses; negotiates bonds; attends all court proceedings, motions, and arraignments.    Incumbent will gather and prepare legal documents, reports or other evidence for trail; prepare cross examination for all probable State witnesses; impanel Jury, make appropriate motions and objections, conduct opening and closing statements, cross examinations of State’s witnesses, submit evidence etc.  Qualifications include: Completion of a law degree from an accredited law school and license to practice law in the State of Georgia; two (2) years experience in handling criminal cases.  Certifications require to hold position: Active Georgia Bar License.

Henry County, Georgia, (pop. 209,053), a rapidly growing community serving as the southeastern anchor of the Atlanta MSA, is seeking a dynamic, innovative professional to serve as the Executive Director for their Development Authority.  The position reports to a five-member Board of Directors and is responsible for directing and facilitating strategic economic development planning and initiatives to expand the tax base of Henry County and to increase quality employment opportunities for local residents.  The position will have supervisory responsibility over a staff of three (3) full-time employees. The county consistently ranks as one of the fastest growing counties in the United States and is recognized as a premier location for business expansion within minutes from the world’s busiest airport.  The community makeup mirrors the State of Georgia with a diverse population, urban pockets, and state-of-the-art healthcare facilities. This is contrasted with traditional countryside and ample recreational activities, including premier professional sporting events.  The successful candidate will have demonstrated leadership in creating effective programs to create and grow jobs; forging economic partnerships between public officials, business advocacy groups, local businesses, and other key stakeholders; familiarity with Georgia’s local funding methods including tax incentives; effective communication skills; and ability to perform in diverse settings.  A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study is required.  A Master’s degree in Business or Public Administration and a Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) designation are preferred.
