Henry County is accepting applications for the position of Certified Police Officer in the Henry County Police Department. This position enforces laws related to the protection of life and property, directs and controls traffic, prevents crime or disturbance of peace, and arrests violators. Listed are some of the essential duties and responsibilities: They shall enforce all statutes, laws, ordinances, regulations and procedures of Department; maintains law and order, protects life and property and performing related assignments. Applicant shall become familiar with State Traffic Codes, Criminal Procedure Codes & Ordinances. Patrols assigned area on foot, by motorcycle, in patrol car, to enforce laws, prevent and discover crimes, investigate crimes, maintain order, and answer calls and complaints. Answers radio-dispatched or citizens’ request for police services at the scene of accidents, domestic disputes, law violations, and peace disturbances. Qualifications are valid Georgia driver’s licenses; must submit a three (3) year Motor Vehicle Report at time of interview; completion of police training and education as required by Georgia Law; Good moral character; Honorable discharge ONLY for persons with military service; No felony or domestic violence convictions and must be physically fit and able to perform the duties of police officer.

Non-Certified Police Officer

Henry County is accepting application for the position of Non-Certified Police Officer in the Police Department. This position is responsible for attending and successfully completing the Georgia Regional Academy’s 11-week program to become a post-certified Police Officer. Upon graduating from the Georgia Regional Academy, their status will change from Non-Certified Police Officer to a Certified Police Officer. This position involves performing numerous tasks from routine to very complex in nature. Henry County is accepting applications for the Planning and Zoning Specialist position in the Planning and Zoning Department. This is a technical and administrative position that is responsible for ensuring that public notices and meeting schedules are sent to all applicants. The duties associated with this position typically involves: Maintaining all planning and zoning related files and provide historic references; obtains the public hearing minutes from the necessary County or City (Cities of Stockbridge and Hampton) Departments and properly files them; receives sign applications at the front counter or via mail; maintain and enter all zoning information utilizing Docuware Software; makes all updates to the Unified Land Development Code after amendments have been made; prepare all zoning resolutions for the Board of Commissioners and  Zoning Advisory Board; receives all zoning verifications and applications and completes the necessary information on each application; answers the front counter telephone as needed; prepares  notification letters for zoning proposals submitted by applicants; manages the Departments development database, which includes entries for zoning applications, signs, and Wireless Communication Facilities (WCF); coordinates with the County Clerk on updating all BOC resolutions; performs related duties as required.    

Qualifications include: Graduation from High School and/or College (College Preferred), with major course work in business, information technology, typing or a related field; any equivalent combination of related training and experience will be considered. The knowledge and skills required of this position includes: Knowledge of basic planning and zoning terminology and an understanding  of reading basic tax maps; knowledge of Docuware Software Program; knowledge of basic office procedures, typing formats and filing procedures; knowledge and skill in the use of personal computers; must possess excellent written and oral communication skills; knowledge of sources of information, current literature and recent developments regarding urban planning. Valid Georgia Drivers License is required.

Environmental Compliance Specialist I

Henry County is accepting applications for the Environmental Compliance Specialist I position in the Storm water Department. This position requires a combination of education, training or experience in the areas of environmental permitting, education, sampling, reporting and data management. The duties associated with this position typically involves: Planning, scheduling and producing annual calendar of events for educational outreach and participatory activities for the public and Henry County employees; coordinates and market outreach with other jurisdictions, businesses, agencies, schools and various environmental/community groups; organize and facilitate informative and engaging outreaches with schools, homeowners associations, etc.; produce and conduct storm water surveys; collect and manage outreach and survey databases; maintains current and accurate website with news, calendar of events and progress/status reports; publishes and updates at least two news articles annually providing information on storm water programs, water issues, best management practices, and activities; produces and distributes educational brochures and handouts regarding pollutants of concern, applicable solutions and storm water management services; performs related duties as required.

Qualifications include: Graduation from High School, Bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental policy, marketing, communications, sociology or a related field is Preferred.  Any equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of an undergraduate degree. The knowledge and skills required of this position includes: Background knowledge of promotional strategies and communication approaches for outreach programs; knowledge of desktop publishing software, graphic design and data base management; effective oral, written and interpersonal skills is essential in performing the duties associated with this position; ability to produce time sensitive reports. Valid Georgia Driver’s License is required.

Food Service Aide (Part-time)

Henry County is accepting applications for the part-time position of Food Service Aide in the Senior Services Department. This position is responsible for the preparation and cooking of meals for a Senior Citizen meal program. The duties associated with this position typically involves: Reading and understanding recipes and being able to prepare food utilizing those particular recipes; operates all kitchen equipment necessary for the preparation and cooking of meals; assists the Lead Cook with inventory of food and supplies and ordering process as needed; organize and maintain dry food storage, cooler and freezer areas in accordance with proper health standards; maintains high standards of sanitation including the daily cleaning and sanitizing of the entire meal preparation site, storage sites, cooking utensils, and equipment used for preparation, cooking, and serving; performs related duties as required.

Qualifications include: Graduation from High School or GED equivalent; possession of a valid Georgia driver’s license or ability to obtain one upon employment; minimum of one year of food service experience and general experience dealing with the senior population is preferred. The knowledge and skills required of this position includes: Knowledge of proper food handling and preparation techniques; knowledge of Health Department food handling procedures; knowledge of general County and Department policies and procedures regarding operation of senior meal program; skill in the use of semi-commercial kitchen equipment.
 (PT-4 Hours per day-no benefits)
