Special Operations
K-9 Unit

The K-9 Unit currently consists of
one Sergeant and four (4) officers who have each been assigned
a canine “partner”. All five (5) current
canines are dual purpose dogs that are trained in narcotics
detection, criminal apprehension, tracking, article/area searches,
building searches and handler protection.
The goal of the K-9 Unit is
to diminish criminal activity by utilizing traffic enforcement
and criminal patrol techniques on Interstate 75 and on Henry
County’s highways and surface streets. The K-9 Unit
also provides assistance to all other divisions within the
police department as well as other law enforcement agencies
who need the use of a K-9.
